Insight meditation (vipassana in Pali, the language of the original Buddhist teachings) is the simple and direct practice of moment-to-moment mindfulness. Through developing the skill of careful observation, we can experience for ourselves the ever-changing flow of the mind/body process. This awareness leads us to accept more fully the pleasure and pain, fear and joy, sadness and happiness that life inevitably brings. As insight deepens, we develop greater equanimity and peace in the face of change, and wisdom and compassion increasingly become the guiding principles of our lives.

All proceeds benefit IMS and its diversity, equity and inclusion work. IMS aspires to share the Buddha’s teachings with all who are interested, regardless of their ability to pay. Following the ancient Buddhist tradition of dana, or generosity, IMS teachers freely offer their teachings, relying on the donations of participants, rather than on compensation, for a sustainable income.  The base fees, below, cover the expenses of these events, and any dana given above  will go to the teachers and IMS’s diversity work. Located in Barre, MA, IMS offers meditation teachings and retreats that help develop awareness and compassion in ourselves, giving rise to greater peace and happiness in the world.

Any amount offered above the fee is a tax-deductible donation.
