Mindfulness is an open, receptive quality of mind that needs to be firmly established in order to be truly transformative. Open to all, this short, silent retreat will give us a chance to explore this quality of kind awareness grounded in the present moment. To help open the heart and soften the mind, we will practice continuous awareness combined with gentle cultivation of the Divine Abodes or Brahmaviharas. The Divine Abodes are lovingkindness (metta), compassion (karuna), empathetic joy (mudita), and equanimity (upekkha).

The retreat format will include meditation instructions, periods of silent sitting and walking meditation, and talks about the Buddha’s teachings as well as group meetings with the teachers.

Teacher Support:
Most IMS teachers—like insight teachers around the world—offer their teachings freely, and rely on the generosity of students for their livelihood. Teachers do not generally receive compensation from IMS program fees. Click here to learn more about teacher support. There will be an opportunity to offer a contribution to your teachers at the end of this program, or you may donate now.
