This six-week partial of the three-month course is a special time for practice. Because of its extended length and ongoing guidance, it is an opportunity for students to deepen the powers of concentration, wisdom and compassion. Based on the meditation instructions of Mahasi Sayadaw and supplemented by a range of skillful means, this retreat will encourage a balanced attitude of relaxation and alertness, and the continuity of practice based on the Buddha’s Four Foundations of Mindfulness.
The teachers will be assisted by Bonnie Duran and Alexis Santos.
Prerequisite is two retreats of a week or more with a recognized insight meditation teacher, or special permission. Please document this experience, including teachers’ names, dates and length of courses when registering, and answer additional questions specifically for this longer-term retreat. Your course participation cannot be confirmed until your information is received and approved.
Special cancellation fees and deadlines apply: up to July 17, 2013, $100; afterwards $250. Please note that these amounts will apply even if you wish to move from any part of the course to another.
Thanks to a significant grant from the Frederick P. Lenz Foundation For American Buddhism and generous support from our community, people of color who might not otherwise afford the cost can establish their own course fee, at or above $15 per day (a total of at least $630 for this retreat). February 2013 Update: Due to overwhelming demand, all funds for this opportunity have been used. If you still wish to apply, we will place you on a wait list for funding to attend Part 2 only, since there are currently no spaces left in either Part 1 or the full Three-Month Retreat. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to request this.
