Retreat Center Front Office

The Front Office staff at the IMS Retreat Center are usually the first point of contact for arriving teachers, retreatants and visitors. Working in a dynamic atmosphere, they provide customer service by responding to requests for information or assistance, whether it comes by phone, email, mail or in-person. Managing retreat logistics is also an important part of this job. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.

Kitchen

IMS kitchen positions involve cooking meals at our two centers, sometimes for as many as 140 people. Additional work involves caring for the kitchen environment and equipment, and training retreatants for work periods. Experience cooking in a professional kitchen is necessary. Knowledge of vegetarian cooking is preferred. Adaptability and good teamwork skills are required, as well as a capacity for physically demanding work and an ability to meet tight deadlines.

Facilities - Housekeeping

Housekeeping staff ensure that the IMS environment at both centers is clean and aesthetically pleasing. A position in this department involves some physically demanding work. Responsibilities include cleaning and caring for the retreat environment, training retreatants for work periods, ordering supplies and furnishings, taking care of houseplants and preparing flower arrangements. Suitable applicants must be able to work alone and have good attention to detail.

Facilities - Maintenance

The IMS Maintenance department is responsible for the upkeep of both retreat facilities. Workers provide routine maintenance of the physical plant and systems, including minor repairs and renovations. Job requirements include problem-solving skills, ease with tools and an ability to perform physically demanding work.
