| Inspiration for Giving
"The cultivation of generosity is the beginning of spiritual awakening. Generosity has tremendous force because it arises from an inner quality of letting go. Being able to let go, to give up, to renounce, and to give generously all spring from the same source, and when we practice generosity, dana, we open up these qualities within ourselves. Letting go gives us profound freedom and many loving ways to express that freedom. Generosity is the beginning of the path. When the Buddha taught, he always began with generosity."

Donations help IMS offer the Buddha's teachings of wisdom and compassion to all. Thanks to your support, IMS is able to:
- provide a spiritual refuge where inner peace and transformation become possible
- keep fees affordable for all who wish to attend, including granting many scholarships, and
- offer the many services that support practice here, from clean rooms to simple, wholesome meals
We would like to share our programs with everyone interested, regardless of means. Because of this wish, we charge retreat fees that cover only about 50% of our operating costs. We rely on past and future donations for the rest. Your gift to IMS benefits the whole community of practitioners who visit, work and teach here. Thank you.
The Buddha taught that generosity also benefits the giver. We hope your donation will help you to:
- recognize the goodness in you that brought you to make this gift
- feel joy, knowing that others benefit from your offering
- develop lovingkindness and compassion, and
- deepen awareness of our interconnectedness
