May full moon Insight Journal

This month is not just a full moon, but a supermoon--the annual month when the moon is closest to the earth, and therefore appears largest in the sky. Appropriately, we have a very full line up for you.
We have a conversation with Ajaan Thanissaro on how our views of the Buddha's teachings have been influenced by Western Romantic and Transcendalist views that were at their strongest just when Buddhadhamma first came to the West. This is of more than academic interest, since how we practice can be influenced as well.
Also, we have news of the Going Forth program, which intends to create an online retirement community based on Buddhist and related teachings. This will include daily practice suggestions, monthly selections of classical texts with commentary from BCBS core faculty Andrew Olendzki, Mu Soeng, and Gloria Taraniya Ambrosia, and an online discussion group for like-minded sangha.
The new full moon Insight Journal combines familiar features of the Insight Journal with features of the existing monthly e-mail message.
This process saves trees, ink, fuel, postage, money, and lots of time and energy on publishing tasks that are becoming obsolete. For more about this, please go here.
