January full moon Insight Journal

frozen leaf with ice tongue

This month, Mu Soeng, the study center's program director, resident scholar, and a core faculty member, talks about a new phase of life for large numbers of western Buddhists: retirement. This April he will teach a course about this that also explores the idea of forming a new sangha of practitioners who have this life phase in common.

Also, two courses were recently added to our 2012 schedule: one on the pāramīs, the ten virtuous qualities that support us on the path to becoming an awakened being, taught by Allan Lokos, and the other taught by neurologist James H. Austin, exploring insights into daily practice that can be gained from emerging understanding of how our brains construct reality. See also the list rounding up all the 2012 courses now on our website that were not in our 2012 printed catalog.

The new full moon Insight Journal combines familiar features of the Insight Journal with features of the existing monthly e-mail message.

This new process will save trees, ink, fuel, postage, money, and lots of time and energy on publishing tasks that are becoming obsolete. For more about this transition, please go here.
